Midyear Workplace Accident Report (January-June 2025)
The Institute for Occupational Health and Safety Development (IOHSAD) has recorded a total of 217 workplace-related accidents from January to July 2025, based on media reports as of July 26, 2025. These incidents have resulted in 153 deaths and 255 injuries.

Among the months covered, May recorded the highest number of worker fatalities and injuries, with 34 deaths and 51 injuries.

According to the data, road traffic injuries were the most frequently reported incidents, accounting for 106 cases. These were followed by violence and harassment by people or animals (61 cases) and fire/explosion incidents (18 cases). Other reported hazards included electrocution (15 cases) and collapses (8 cases), the latter mostly involving the construction industry.

Despite relying solely on news articles — and not yet incorporating direct reports from workers — the data already reveals a disturbing trend: an average of nearly one death per day due to unsafe working conditions. The staggering figures underscore a severe occupational safety crisis in the Philippines, where workers continue to die or suffer injuries while on the job.
In light of this, IOHSAD reiterates its urgent call for stronger and stricter protection for all workers, regardless of sector. The organization also demands that employers and companies responsible for these deaths and injuries be held criminally liable for negligence.
IOHSAD continues to closely monitor occupational safety and health (OSH) incidents across the country. Following the recently concluded OSH Rights and Documentation Workshop, IOHSAD is set to intensify its data-gathering efforts on workplace accidents and violations.
IOHSAD continues to closely monitor occupational safety and health (OSH) incidents across the country. Following the release of the IOHSAD OSH Incident Report Form during the OSH Dokyu: OSH Rights Documentation and Action Workshop, IOHSAD aims to further strengthen efforts in gathering data directly from workers regarding workplace accidents and safety violations.
The OSH Incident Report Form is now open for submissions. Workers are encouraged to report incidents and document any violations of safety protocols in their workplaces, contributing to a clearer, more grounded picture of OSH conditions nationwide.
