February Workplace Accident Report

April 14, 2025

Here are the February workplace accident figures gathered by IOHSAD based on news reports: a total of 33 workplace-related incidents were recorded, resulting in 19 deaths and 32 injuries.

One of the most severe incidents this month involved six workers who were electrocuted while installing solar posts in Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod. The workers accidentally came into contact with a live wire, causing severe burn injuries.

Compared to January’s data — which recorded 24 deaths and 41 injuries — the number of victims slightly decreased in February. However, this does not mean that workers are now in safe conditions.

Based on the reported cases, common causes of workplace accidents include:

🔹 Transport-related incidents

🔹 High-risk jobs with inadequate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

🔹 Workplace violence

🔹 Mechanical and electrical failures

We must continue to demand safe working conditions and the strict enforcement of occupational health and safety standards to prevent more workers from getting injured or killed while trying to earn a living.
